Landholders 1885
This unique index provides the names of nearly 40,000 residents of NSW in 1884/85. It is based on the 1885 census of the occupiers of land and owners of stock in New South Wales originally published in the Journal of the Legislative Council of New South Wales.
The ‘census’ lists the name of the holding or locality, the occupier, the post town of the occupier or landholder, the acreage and the number of horses, cattle, sheep and pigs. It was carried out by Inspectors of Stock and Brands and the police and was based on police districts.
Unfortunately for researchers the results were recorded alphabetically by the name of the holding or locality and not that of the owner / occupier for each police district.
To overcome this difficulty all the entries have been combined in one MS Acess data base which is available to researchers in Excell or PDF format.
The survey was based on Police districts and at that time there were 55 districts. These were Albury,* Armidale,* Balranald, Bathurst,*(925) Berrima, Bombala*, (725) ,Booligal, Bourke, Braidwood, Brewarrina, Cannonbar*, Carcoar,* Casino*, Cobar, Condobolin, Cooma, Coonabarabran, Corowa, Deniliquin* (438), Dubbo*, Forbes, * Glen Innes, Goulburn*,(865) Grafton, Gundagai, (1133) Hay, Hume*, Kiama*, Maitland,* Menindie, Merriwa, Molong, Moree, Mudgee, Murrurundi*, Narandera*, (165) Narrabri, Picton, Pilliga, Port Macquarie, Port Stephens*, Queanbeyan,(570) Singleton*, Sydney*, Tamworth,* Tenterfield, (514) Urana, Wagga Wagga*, Warialda*, (603)Walgett, Wilcannia ,(64) Windsor, (1976) Wentworth , Yass* and Young *

I want to buy a copy the CD of the Return of livestock and stockowners in NSW 1884/5. How do I go about doing so?
