The Alexander Munroe fountain stood at the corner of George and Campbell Streets outside the Caledonia Hotel. Alexander was a prominent member of the community and the first Mayor when the town was incorporated in 1866. It is reported that after the declaration of the Poll at the courthouse ‘the newly elected aldermen …proceeded to the Royal Hotel where the health of the returning officer, the newly elected aldermen…were drunk in bumpers (?)’ after which they were ‘unceremoniously seized’ and drawn through the town in a vehicle by the local populace.

Some extracts from my data base ‘NSW Residents Vol. 3’ are listed below . The data base is still a work in progress so names and places are still being added. To date there are over 46,000 entries.
The databases for some towns also contain a historical overview of the town. Indicated by *.
The number after the town name are the total entries in the data base for that town as at this date. Note! This is not a list of all the towns / places and names in the data base . Nor does the entries list all the residents mentioned in the master data base.

I am looking for any information re: Mrs Ann White, nee Mulligan, nee Cavanagh.
Ann was married to George White, son of Charles White, Mount Pleasant, Prairie Park Inverell. I am particularly interested in the year about 1867 where she alleged to have a baby by an Aboriginal man presumably from the district. before taking up with William Tudor, Jerry’s Plains.
Incidently, Ann is the sister of Stephen Cavanagh of Warialda, scone and Moree.
